Mevagissey Tourist Attractions
Mevagissey Museum
Local history museum with display of local articles, boat models and photographs
of Mevagissey over the last 100 years. Opening hours: Easter until end September,
every day. 11am - 6pm.
The Aquarium
Exhibition of many spieces of fish found in Cornish waters. As a registered
charity, all proceeds go towards Mevagissey harbour maintenance and improvement.
Opening hours: April to September, every day, 10am - 5pm.
The Lost Gardens of
Heligan
The award winning "Lost Gardens of Heligan" are thought to be the largest
garden restoration project in Europe. 57 acres of gardens lost for 70 years
are being rediscovered and restored as a working Victorian garden. Opening
hours: Daily throughout the year, 10am - 6pm.
The World of Model
Railways
Model railway museum. Model railway exhibition with over 2,000 models, model
railway layout and shop. Features for this year include a layout with
all the childrens favourite trains. Opening hours: 1st April to 31st October,
daily from 10am to 5pm. Open until 6pm during school holidays.
The Eden Project
The 8th wonder of the world is open for business.... only 8 miles
from Mevagissey
Nestling within a giant 50-metre deep crater overlooking St. Austell Bay
are two gigantic geodesic conservatories - one is an awesome rainforest cathedral
- the Humid Tropics Biome; the other, is the Warm Temperate Biome, host to
the plants, fruits and flowers of the Mediterranean, South Africa and California.
They form a majestic backdrop to the outdoor landscape.
